The Great Trail
The great trail hike is rated beginner with uneven terrain. It is a two hour hike along part of the majestic Great Trail (Trans Canada Trail) to a suspension bridge crossing spectacular river gorge on the Haslam Creek.

Start times are 10 am and 2 pm. Meeting at the Timberlands pub, 1680 Timberland RD. South of Nanaimo near the Nanaimo airport.

The Great Trail (Trans Canada Trail) starts at Departure Bay ferry terminal and is 48 km to Haslam Creek suspension bridge. The suspension bridge spans 18 meters above Haslam Creek gorge. This bridge was installed in 2002 to connect the Great Trail created in 2001. The trail has four sections in the Nanaimo Regional District. The Haslam and White Pine sections are the sections south of the Nanaimo River. This hike takes you to the Haslam section. The Extention Ridge and Pipeline sections are north of the Nanaimo River.
